In 2007, Canderel made Toronto history by achieving approval for an 80 storey condominium tower, Canada’s tallest condominium completed to this day, with close to 1,000 suites and 180,000 sq.ft of retail in the podium. As the building pre-dated the City of Toronto’s Tall Building Guideline, the building in today’s terms would equate to close to 130 storeys, as over 950,000 sq.ft of GFA was attributed to the residential density only.

During the financial crisis from 2008 to 2012, Aura consistently achieved sales velocity and price increases with penthouses ranging over $1,000/sq.ft. Today, Aura is a crowning achievement for the city of Toronto, featured in skyscraper magazines and sites around the world. It broke all records in Toronto for sales velocity, number of units in one tower, height, construction, and pricing in the neighbourhood. Aura started the rejuvenation of Yonge Street, with plans for even taller towers proposed over the next few years.
